The airport is outside the centre
Burgas Airport is roughly 10 km north-east of Burgas city centre. It is close to the coast and the Sarafovo area, but it is not a terminal in the middle of the central streets. Treat arrival as an airport-to-city transfer and decide that last leg before you land.
Arriving by air
For May 2027, search the flight options from your departure city and check the operating airline directly. Seasonal routes, operating days and departure times can change, so a route that exists when you research is not a promise about your travel week.
Once you know your arrival time, check whether the public transport option is running then and whether its endpoint suits where you are staying. If the answer is unclear, keep a taxi as your simple fallback rather than building a tight connection into the first hour of the trip.
Public transport
Bus into Burgas
The airport currently lists a public bus connection to Burgas central bus station. That is useful if your arrival fits the current timetable and you are happy to continue from the station on foot or by another local connection.
Recheck the airport page for the stop, timetable, ticket method and any seasonal changes before you travel. Do not rely on an old screenshot or a guide written for the lev era.
Direct transfer
Taxi from the terminal
The airport currently describes a taxi service at the terminal. This is the more direct choice when you have heavy luggage, arrive outside a useful bus window, or want to go straight to an address rather than to the central bus station.
Use the marked airport service or desk, confirm the destination and ask how payment works before setting off. You do not need to decide a taxi company in this guide; you do need a clear arrival plan.
Why flights are harder to fix late
Ground transport gives you several ways to solve the same short transfer. A flight has a fixed schedule and a finite number of seats. When many visitors are trying to arrive in the same week, a late change can mean fewer useful departure times or no workable seat on the route you need. You cannot create another direct flight at the last minute in the way you can change from a bus to a taxi.
A sensible order is: choose the flight, check its arrival time against the current airport transport information, then choose the bus or taxi based on luggage, arrival hour and final destination. Keep a little time between landing and anything you have booked in the city.
